Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel - Property informationWhat to expect: Originally built in 1912, this hotel looks and feels like a grand castle, right down to its stone façade guarded by two golden lions. The interior is elegant with long hallways and large common areas under coffered ceilings, gold-painted moldings, crystal chandeliers, and French antiques. The typical clientele includes business and leisure travelers, celebrities, and U.S. presidents. - Amenity highlights: The four dining and beverage options range from casual to formal, from New England oysters to award-winning steak, and include a lounge known for its martinis. The fitness room offers everything from security cameras to the latest cardiovascular equipment and weight-training machines. Yoga, aerobics classes, and spa treatments are offered at the women’s health club next door, for which discount passes are available at the front desk.
- Insider tip: Boston’s free summer concert series takes place across the street in Copley Plaza. For art lovers, the South End Open Studios—in which Boston’s painters, sculptors, and photographers invite the public in for a show and sale of their work—is a favorite event each September. Hotel guests are within 4 blocks of the lofts and studios of this popular event.
Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel - Dining information- The hotel offers 21,000 square feet of meeting and event space with a grand ballroom that can accommodate a maximum of 1,000 guests. The Oak Room, Wine Room, and Singleton Room are small, popular spaces intended for more intimate gatherings, such as business breakfasts and wedding luncheons.
- The Oak Room - This restaurant offers a traditional steakhouse menu with a selection of fish entrees. Seating is arranged to impart a sense of privacy. The walls contain a variety of big-game taxidermy trophies, giving this place a hunting-lodge ambience in a ballroom setting. The restaurant is open for dinner only and reservations are highly recommended.
- The Oak Bar - Especially popular Thursday–Saturday evenings, this romantic spot is reminiscent of a British officers’ club from the Orient in the 1890s. Dark-wood paneling and a gilded, coffered ceiling surround the tables. The bar has a wide selection of unusual martinis, including the so-called engaging Martini, which is served with a $10,000 diamond.
