    What to expect: Off a meandering road at the base of the mountain, this lodge attracts affluent travelers—lawyers, stockbrokers, and business execs—looking for a slightly out-of-the-way retreat with easy access to the slopes and village. Guests enter through an atrium to a wide, winding staircase that ascends to the lobby, which features a stone, wood-burning fireplace; leather sofa and chairs; and floor-to-ceiling windows.
  • Amenity highlights: Skiers and snowboarders access the slopes via the Highlands Lift, located behind the lodge, and return using the skiway that swoops through the property, and leads to a storage area with shoe cubbies, boot warmers, and private lockers. Guests stroll a quarter-mile to the village or take the free 24-hour shuttle. Other perks include heated underground parking, a swimming pool, hot tubs, and access to a nearby resort’s spa and health club.
  • Insider tip: The “mountain welcome tour” is a 2.5-hour, guided orientation to Beaver Creek Mountain, presented at 10 AM daily.     Driving directions from Denver International Airport: Take Interstate 70 west to Exit 167. Go through the first roundabout and head south, under the highway, onto Avon Rd. Continue south on Avon Rd through the next three roundabouts to the main entrance of Beaver Creek Resort. Check in at the guard booth to receive a resort-parking pass. Travel 2 miles to Offerson Road, and turn left. Follow the road up the hill. The lodge is on the right.
